Beloved star forced out in Roosters squeeze

English clubs are circling star winger Daniel Tupou as he begins what is certain to be the 12th and last season of his illustrious career at the Roosters. Tupou, a premiership winner, State of Origin flanker and Test player, is just six tries short of the legendary Anthony Minichiello as the greatest Roosters tryscorer of all time. The Roosters have signed promising Knights winger Dominic Young and are also close to signing Wakefield Trinity winger Lewis Murphy. With Joseph Suaalii also in the ranks, the Roosters can't afford to have four wingers on big money under the salary cap. Tupou is a beloved figure in the club but turns 32 in June and is nearing the end of a fine career. He could pick up a one or two-year deal with a rival NRL club but will be offered a long-term deal in Super League. Several UK clubs are set to closely monitor the tall winger's form in the early rounds. He is currently sitting on 133 tries from 223 games, closing in on Minichiello's record 139.
