Damien Cook has signed for two more years at South Sydney - but superstar Latrell Mitchell is about to go one better. Mitchell has formally agreed to a three-year contract that will see him stay at the Rabbitohs until at least the end of 2026. The deal is expected to be officially announced by the Rabbitohs early next week. That only leaves Cody Walker of Souths' 'big three' to come to terms with - and he is also expected to stay at Redfern on a new two-year deal. While Cook and Walker are great signings, Mitchell is the jewel in Souths' crown and his decision not to test the market is a massive boost for the club. It is also a vote of faith from the former Rooster in coach Jason Demetriou, who did a fine job guiding Souths to within a game of the grand final in 2022. Now that the November 1 transfer deadline has passed, Mitchell could talk to any club and would be in hot demand. But the star fullback has let it be known he is not looking around. "Hopefully I sign with Souths, that is my next goal," Mitchell told. "Once I get that done I just want to win comps. That's all I'm chasing. "I want to do that at South Sydney and create a legacy at Souths."
