How Dogs Missed Premiership Star

So what happened to the rumours that swept the game a couple of weeks ago that Spencer Leniu was a done deal at the Bulldogs? In the end, the Bulldogs pulled their offer for the Penrith juggernaut and the Panthers realised they couldn't keep him for the money he was asking. That left the Roosters as the only horse in the race, and Leniu signed for around $520,000 per season on the books. The Bulldogs were never confident they would get the big forward - so much so that supremo Phil Gould never even spoke to him or his manager, leaving negotiations with coach Cameron Ciraldo. Ciraldo could tell Leniu was keener on the Roosters - and that's when he withdrew his offer.
