The Bunnies have had a host of brilliant Indigenous outside backs down the years — the likes of Greg Inglis, Eric Simms, Nathan Merritt and Alex Johnston for starters.And they may have discovered another one in teenager Tyrone Munro, who produced a sizzling debut in horrible conditions for wingers in Auckland on Friday night.It was wet, it was cold and it was windy - but it was the biggest night of the 18-year-old's life.A product of the NSW country town of Moree, Munro was playing in the SG Ball Cup at the start of the season.But he slowly worked his way through the grades — and got his big chance against the Warriors.Munro grabbed the opportunity — and wow.He scored a try, set up another and made two line breaks on a heavy track as the Rabbitohs upset the Warriors 28-6.With Johnston scoring two tries on the other wing, the Rabbitohs ended their form slump in great style, defying the conditions by playing bright attacking football.

The Bunnies' unsung hero

His fellow South Sydney winger Alex Johnston gets all the tries and the headlines, but Taane Milne is playing the best football of his career at the Rabbitohs this season.Milne scored two of Souths' three tries in the hard-fought 20-0 win over the Tigers on Saturday afternoon and troubled the defence all afternoon with his powerful running with the ball.The 27-year-old is in his seventh year with the Rabbitohs and has matured into a fine finisher.The Rabbitohs backline is the equal of any in the comp, with Milne doing his bit in both attack and defence. 

Souths suffer huge injury blow on eve of final

South Sydney has suffered a huge blow on the eve of its preliminary final against Penrith, with star winger Alex Johnston ruled out with injury.Johnston, the leading try-scorer in the competition this year, hasn't recovered from a hip flexor injury suffered in the semi final win over Cronulla.His place will be taken by Richie Kennar, who's played just one match this season."[Johnston] was never really going to be a chance to play but we gave him every opportunity. If we get the job done, he'll be back next week," coach Jason Demetriou said.

Alex Johnston is on the verge of yet another record after continuing his stunning tryscoring run in Souths' 20-10 win over the Cowboys on Saturday night.The flying winger is poised to become the first player in the game's history to score 30 tries in two consecutive seasons.AJ bagged exactly 30 last year and his four-pointer against the Cowboys took him to 28 this season - with more guaranteed to come.It's a remarkable feat for a player who was almost let go by the Bunnies a couple of years ago and a mark that may never be beaten.

Legend's record looms for Johnston

Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston keeps re-writing his own personal record book as he chases league's Holy Grail - Ken Irvine's try tally.In a beaten side, Johnston scored two tries and has now crossed in seven consecutive games for the first time in his career.Irvine's record looked safe a few months ago, but with 19 tries in his last 10 games, Johnston is a man on a mission.

You can't but help marvel the class of Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston, who became just the 15th man to score 150 tries against the Titans last Saturday afternoon.There are few better finishers in the modern game than the Bunnies flyer, who had a day out against the hapless Titans.The wing star bagged three tries, giving him back-to-back hat tricks for the first time in his career after his trio against the Tigers in his previous outing.

Rabbitohs lock in key man until end of 2025

South Sydney winger Alex Johnston will be going nowhere anytime soon, with the club confirming today he has re-signed until the end of 2025.The 26-year-old was already signed on for next season, and is now locked into the club until just before his 31st birthday."I'm stoked to be staying at the club for a further three years and hopefully it's another step in staying as a one-club player," Johnston said."The last couple of years have been massive and I'll be doing everything I can to ensure we go one step further than we did this year and win more premierships for this club."After debuting in 2014 and scoring a try in Souths' drought-breaking title win that year, Johnston has been a fixture, mostly on the left wing, while also playing fullback at various points throughout his tenure.He has topped the tryscoring charts in each of the last two NRL seasons, and is likely to pass club legend Nathan Merritt very soon as the man who has scored the most ever tries for the Rabbitohs.

Speed star Cannot Stop Scoring for South's

Alex Johnston keeps rewriting the record books with his incredible try-scoring feats in the red-hot Rabbitohs backline. He was at it again in the big win over the hapless Cowboys on Friday night, racing in a hat-trick on the flank. Johnson has now scored 13 tries in his last five games - three hat-tricks and two lots of two. Only one player in the history of the game has scored two or more tries in five straight games - former Parramatta favourite Semi Radradra back in 2015. With the great service Johnston is getting from Adam Reynolds and Cody Walker, he is certain to add plenty to his career tally of 128 tries before the season is out.

Rampant Rabbitohs Deadly in Indigenous Round

No one will want to play Souths in Indigenous Round in coming years. The Rabbitohs gave arguably their most complete performance of the season against the Eels on Saturday night - with their pumped-up Aboriginal contingent leading the way. In fact, six of the Bunnies' seven tries in the 38-20 rout were scored by their Aboriginal players, with Dane Gagai and Alex Johnston both grabbing hat-tricks.
