Tigers muscle up as third Fainu brother earns contract

The Wests Tigers have added some muscle to their squad by upgrading young talent Sione Fainu. The 23-year-old made his NRL debut mid-season in 2024 and played 12 first grade games for the club. And after impressing the coaching staff during pre-season, he's now been upgraded and added to the top squad on a two-year deal. "We're thrilled that Sione has extended his stay here at Wests Tigers," head coach Benji Marshall said. Fainu is the older sibling of Latu and Samuela, who are already in the Tigers' top squad. While Sione is a middle forward, 21-year-old Samuela plays on an edge and teenager Latu is a talented playmaker. Samuela won the club's player of the year award last season. The Tigers have collected the NRL's wooden spoon for three consecutive years and are hoping to turn their fortunes around in 2025.
