Sharks Fears Over NRLW Facilitties Escalate

The growth of the women's game has been a shining light in rugby league in recent years - but there is still a long way to go. Only last week, a Jillaroos camp designed to prepare the women for their Vegas game was cancelled at the last minute with no explanation. And now the Sharks are so concerned about the poor facilities for their NRLW and visiting teams that they have taken the unprecedented step of launching a petition for help on their own website. The move has the backing of Liberal MPs Simon Kennedy, the Federal Member for Cook, and Jenny Ware, the Federal Member for Hughes. The Sharks are after funds to create new changing rooms, with the present ones described as "cramped and inadequate". Visiting teams are often forced to prepare in temporary demountable structures or at a junior rugby league ground opposite Sharks Stadium. A link to the petition can be found on the Sharks website.
