Hynes' emotional message amid Green tribute

Sharks star Nicho Hynes gave an emotional reminder to check in with your loved ones after winning the inaugural Paul Green Medal.Following Green's death in August, the Sharks and Cowboys announced the player-of-the-match in clashes between the two sides would be presented the medal by the winning coach.Green played for both clubs throughout his career, and later coached the Cowboys who he led to the 2015 premiership.Green was honoured before kick-off with a minute's applause. His wife Amanda and children Emerson and Jed were in the stands, as well as extended family and friends.Green was posthumously diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after he took his own life in August at the age of 49.The Sharks demolished the Cowboys 44-6 at Shark Park."It is an absolute honour to be able to receive this award for the first time," Hynes said after being presented the award."Paul Green was an integral part of this club, player No.290. To the family and all the friends who have played a part in Paul's life, thank you so much for coming down."It is a crazy feeling right now, because I know how much he means to everyone here. Thanks to our boys for putting in such a good performance."Everyone, make sure we all check in on each other because you never know what is going on."Hynes scored 20 points - eight goals and a try - in yet another stellar performance.
