A bout of homesickness is set to win Gold Coast the prized signature of Warrington prop Thomas Mikaele - immediately. The former Wests Tigers prop has been among the form forwards in Super League this season and Warrington were desperate to hang onto him. But Mikaele and his wife want to return home and a deal with the Titans is imminent. The 25-year-old is expected to sign for two and a half years, with Gold Coast set to pay a transfer fee to buy out his contract. New Zealand-born Mikaele began his top grade career with the Tigers in 2019 and played 66 games for the club in four seasons. He moved to England last year and did little, struggling with injury. But this season, fully fit, he has hit his straps and been a real force.
