Raiders star as judiciary record threatens career

Jordan Rapana remains one of the best finishers in the NRL and is a real competitor who gives his heart and soul for the Raiders every week. But he is in danger of becoming his own worst enemy due to his record with the referees and judiciary. His passion and fire have made him a marked man with the referees - as the trial against the Tigers at Belmore at the weekend showed. The Raiders were in the contest until the speedy winger was sin-binned for a high shot and the Tigers took advantage of his absence to gain the upper hand. That was the fifth time Rapana has been binned in his time with the Raiders and on top of that, he has received 10 charges - and been found or pleaded guilty on each occasion - for nine weeks of suspensions and $6600 in fines. In the modern game, players need to learn to control their aggression, especially those who are marked men with referees. I've no doubt Ricky Stuart will have a word with him before the season starts and tell him to cool it and just play his natural game - because he remains a real force and a tryscoring menace when his head is screwed on right.
