Daley opens up on potential Manly deal

League great Laurie Daley has confirmed discussions with Manly about becoming an advisor have taken place as the team's owners entertain a full blown overhaul following the uncertainty over Des Hasler's reign as head coach.Hasler has reportedly engaged lawyers over the remaining year on his contract with the Sea Eagles after the club imposed conditions upon his return next season. His deal is worth an estimated $950,000.Hasler's contract ends after the 2023 season, however his days are reportedly numbered at Manly and an announcement is expected this week as to whether he will coach the Sea Eagles in 2023.Daley's name had been brought up amongst powerbrokers at the club with a view to bringing in some outside input.In terms of a deal being struck, the former NSW coach said there were still some issues to be sorted prior to a formal agreement.It's understood Daley's commitment with TAB and the Sea Eagles' deal with PointsBet is one hurdle.Speaking on The Big Sports Breakfast, Daley said he had spoken to Manly chief executive Tony Mestrov about a variety of roles."There is no formal offer in place, it was just a discussion around Manly and where I would be interested in a role with their pathways," he said.
