Joey backs Broncos to contend in near future

NRL legend Andrew Johns says the Broncos are ready to challenge for a title in the next couple of years, with the acquisition of Reece Walsh putting them over the top. The former junior standout will return home, joining a blossoming young backline and a fearsome forward pack, with Adam Reynolds pulling the strings. "They're going to challenge for a premiership next couple of years, for sure," Johns told. "Every team that competes at the top has a world-class fullback. He's a world-class fullback. Throw in Cobbo there, wow." The other aspect of the transfer, Johns said, was the mental win for the traditional Brisbane powerhouse over their new upstart neighbours. "This is huge for the Broncos over the Dolphins - because you'd imagine that if someone said two weeks' ago 'I hear a rumour that Reece Walsh is getting out of the Warriors' you'd just go 'oh, he's going to the Dolphins', but he's decided to go to Brisbane," he said. "They had the really strong, young forward pack, they had young talent coming through, but they didn't have a skipper steering the ship," he said. "You can have the biggest ship in the world but if you haven't got the right skipper - they've got Adam Reynolds doing that now and they're a different club. "Look out in the next couple of years."
