Panthers look to Newcastle for Tyrone May replacement

Premiers Penrith are set to make a bid for exciting young Knights utility Tex Hoy if bad boy Tyrone May gets sacked. The Panthers are expected to tear up May's contract this week after he posted offensive comments on social media after the grand final about a scandal he was involved in a couple of years ago. Hoy, 21, is a talented utility who can fill May's role as a number 14 with his ability to handle several backline spots. And in truth, Hoy probably has more talent and potential than May so it would be a good move by the Panthers. Hoy is a free agent for next season, with the Knights having trouble squeezing him into their top 30 squad. Adam O'Brien has plenty of playmaking options, even if Mitchell Pearce leaves as expected, with Jake Clifford, Adam Clune, Kalyn Ponga, Hoy and Phoenix Crossland all capable ball players.
