Sharks desperate to replace injured Fifita for run to finals

The Sharks have sent out an SOS for a front-rower for the run-in to the finals following the season-ending injury to veteran prop Andrew Fifita. The club is short of middle forwards for the crucial last few rounds as teams battle for finals spots. One player the Sharks are considering is young North Queensland prop Emry Pere. A 22-year-old from New Zealand, Pere played two games for the Cowboys last year but has been unable to force his way into the struggling club's top 17 this season. Pere went to Benji Marshall's old school - Keebra Park on the Gold Coast - before joining the Cowboys in the National Youth Competition in 2016. A former Junior Kangaroo, he has plenty of size and would be a handy late addition to the Sharks, who have been out-muscled by rival packs in recent weeks. He is signed to the Cowboys until the end of next season but the Sharks are looking at a possible loan agreement.
