Adam Keighran's superb last-gasp clutch penalty goal against the luckless Broncos on Friday night was almost the kick that never was. Keighran was let go by the Warriors late last season but then scored a hat-trick in the final game of the year - against the strong Manly side. That prompted an about-face by the Warriors, who told the utility back they may have a spot for him after all. But Keighran said 'thanks but no thanks' - he was already deep in talks with the Roosters. And the unheralded 24-year-old has proved a handy pick-up for the injury-ravaged Roosters, filling several spots in the backline and kicking goals from all over the park - including the pressure kick at Suncorp to keep the wounded Roosters' season alive with a brave 21-20 win.

A resilient person with great energy. He will do us good for many years to come.
