Broncos' Gamble wins two-year NRL deal

Fiery playmaker Tyson Gamble's two-year contract extension with Brisbane has ensured Kotoni Staggs won't just walk into the Brisbane No.6 jersey next season. The 25-year-old secured his NRL future on Thursday, Gamble impressing when given the chance as part of the Broncos' constantly-rotating halves combination this season. The well-built Gamble had a distinct presence in the side's impressive defeat of Cronulla on Sunday, running the ball with confidence and adding starch to their defence in a sign he could be the man to partner incoming halfback Adam Reynolds next season. Staggs also returned from injury and suspension in that win, starring at centre and saying post-game he would wait until the next preseason to consider a switch to the No.6.With long-time five-eighth Anthony Milford not offered a new deal at the club, it clears the path for Gamble to solidify his spot in the final eight games of the season. Gamble had played just three NRL games between 2018 and 2020 but has now won three from the eight he's featured in this season. "It's unreal to re-sign with the Broncos. I love the way the club is going, the direction that Kev is taking us and I'm looking forward to the future," he said.
