Brisbane centre Kotoni Staggs is confident his questionable decision-making, which has landed him in hot water with the NRL, is all in the past as he closes in on his playing return. Staggs has been sidelined since last year after suffering an ACL injury late in the Broncos' miserable 2020 season. Despite returning to full fitness earlier this month, Staggs has had his wait to return to the NRL action extended by a fortnight due to a two-match suspension and a $20,000 fine for a drunken incident at a Brisbane pub in April. It's not the only off-field drama for Staggs, who was fined $10,000 for using a homophobic slur towards a patron at a pub in Dubbo in February. The 22-year-old said the past year had been an eye-opening one and with the support of the Broncos, his family and a psychologist he was confident off-field dramas were a thing of the past. "I think I've got the help that I needed and if I ever come into a position like that again then I'll know how to handle it and move forward," Staggs said. "I want to go to a position that I know how to play and I'm good at as well."That's a call that I've made and Kevvie agrees with me on that."
