I haven't lived up to marquee money: Mbye

Moses Mbye denies his request to test the NRL market for 2022 is about trying to get home to Queensland, more money or even getting more time on the field. For the ex-Wests Tigers captain, it's simply time to see what else it out there beyond the end of his contract which expires at the end of next season.  In a rare show of selflessness from an NRL player looking for a new contract, Mbye said on Thursday he knows he hasn't lived up to the marquee money he was paid when he joined the Tigers in 2018. Since he joined the club mid-season on a deal worth around $800,000 a year, the Queensland Origin utility hasn't nailed down a spot in the backline. He admits his NRL future is probably as a bench utility - the role he's currently playing with the Tigers. Mbye spoke to Tigers' general manager of football Adam Hartigan about how he was feeling, which led to chief executive Justin Pascoe giving him the OK to speak to clubs about a new deal for next season.
