The Gold Coast Titans "have no intention" to change their view on rising front rower Josiah Pahulu's release request amid reports the young star was set to join the Bulldogs. Pahulu reportedly requested a release from the final year of his deal - but was denied - on Tuesday following a dispute regarding an alleged $40,000 bonus payment. A clause in Pahulu's contract stated he would receive a bonus payment at the end of the season if he competed in 20 first grade games, but his fortunes were denied in the final round. Pahulu finished the season with 19 appearances, having been rested in what would have been his 20th match in the Titans' final round clash against the Panthers. The 20-year-old was reportedly left disgruntled following the selection call, prompting him to begin his search to walk away for the club. But his request to join forces with the Bulldogs was quickly denied by the club, who refused to publicly discuss the details of Pahulu's contract. "At this stage, the Titans have no intention whatsoever of releasing Pahulu," AAP journalist Joel Gould told SEN 1170 Mornings. "Some people are suggesting it was a deliberate plot by the Titans to not pay him, but the Titans are telling me that it was the fact he had an injury. "They're suggesting there was nothing sinister about it." Pahulu's battle for game time remains tightly contested, with the futures of captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, David Fifita and Klese Haas all confirmed on the Gold Coast. The club also acquired the talent of veteran Eels prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard until 2027. "The player himself, I'd say, wants to play rugby league," Gould said.
