Rising front rower Josiah Pahulu has reportedly requested an immediate release from the Gold Coast Titans. The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Tuesday that the Titans rookie of the year was unhappy at not receiving a bonus payment for the 2024 season. Pahulu's contract included a $50,000 bonus if he played 20 NRL games this year. The 20-year-old played 19 before being rested for the club's final match against the Penrith Panthers. "The club insists nothing untoward occurred," the newspaper reported. "The incident, however, has left a sour taste in the mouth of the New Zealand-born forward, prompting him to seek expressions of interest for the 2026 season despite the Titans' desire to extend his deal." Pahulu is contracted to the Titans for 2025 but the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are now circling.
