St George Illawarra Dragons coach Shane Flanagan has given a brutal two-word reason why Tyrell Sloan was shifted to the wing, simply stating "three tries". Sloan was moved at half-time with outgoing star Zac Lomax at fullback after the Knights scored four tries in the first half and it's unclear which three Flanagan was most frustrated about. The 21-year-old was unable to clean up a messy grubber from Jack Cogger for Jackson Hastings' first try while he wasn't in cover defence for the second to Enari Tuala. The third try for Newcastle came when Jack Cogger grubbered with Sloan on the other side of the field, possibly out of position. Dylan Lucas then made it 24-10 when he steamrolled past Sloan defending in the front line. NRL legend Paul Gallen was scathing of the fullback's effort in Lucas' try. "Tyrell Sloan, he's a great player and he's an enormous talent but he's got to play well every week," he said on Nine. "He has moments like that in games where he lets himself down and the team down, that's a very poor defensive display there for a first grader." League icon Phil Gould added Sloan is a target for attackers considering the way he defends in the line. "There's no doubt when opposition teams see Sloan in the line they'll direct traffic straight at him and it's going to keep happening until Sloan stands up for himself and starts making some stops on that," he said. Having made the brutal call on Sloan at half-time, Flanagan identified exactly why the decision had been made before refusing to state it would be a permanent decision. "Three tries, it just wasn't good enough," he said.
