Rookie showdown delivers a winner

The battle between rookie five-eighths Ethan Strange and Lachlan Galvin stole the show in Saturday afternoon's Raiders-Tigers clash. Strange was great in his third NRL game, scoring a clever solo try and leading the Raiders to their 32-12 win. But Galvin, on debut in a well-beaten Tigers side, wasn't far behind. At 18 and a year younger than his opposite, the new boy fresh out of school justified Benji Marshall's gamble to start him with a classy display. The NRL will continue to lose players to union, to Super League and to retirement, but with youngsters like Strange and Galvin coming through, the game will always be in good hands.
