Penrith lose young star on NRL grand final eve

Penrith have lost one of their best young prospects - and a member of their grand final squad - on the eve of the big game, to Newcastle.Speedy winger Tom Jenkins, who scored five tries in his five top grade appearances for the club this season, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Knights.Jenkins is in the Panthers' 22-man squad for tomorrow's big game but is given little chance of playing unless there is a late injury. But the 22-year-old from Boorowa in the NSW country is one of the club's best young prospects and was seen as a future first grader by Penrith officials. The Knights have signed the youngster as a possible replacement for tryscoring ace Dominic Young, who has signed with the Sydney Roosters for 2024.
