Andrew Walker believes controversial Latrell Mitchell could walk away from the game - or suffer mental health issues - in the wake of continual barrages of abuse. Mitchell is arguably the most criticised and most talked about player in the game - a mantle Walker reluctantly held two decades ago. The pressure led Walker down a path of drug and alcohol addiction. He was suspended in rugby league and union despite winning Test honours in both codes because of his prolific skills. Walker ultimately walked away from football, unable to cope with the constant glare of criticism from fans and the media. "We are both Indigenous boys from the bush who came to the big city and struggled to handle all that came with that," Walker told. "I am genuinely worried Latrell could walk away or do self harm. I've been through what he is going through now and there was a lot less support back in my day. "I turned to drugs and alcohol and dug myself deeper into a hole. I'm going to speak to Latrell personally and try to support him." "He needs to be shown some love. He could easily just walk away - he doesn't need the grief he is copping."I was one of the first who copped it. If I got through, he can. "He needs to ban himself from social media for starters. That's where the haters say horrible things.
