Bellamy makes call on Storm coaching future

Melbourne supercoach Craig Bellamy has informed the club he will stay on in the role for a 22nd season.Bellamy, 63, had said he wanted to make an announcement early this week, and on Monday morning outlets including The Sydney Morning Herald reported he has chosen to go around again."I've done a 180-degree turnaround," Bellamy told the Herald."Things have got a bit testy over the past few weeks but I finally decided to coach on for another season in Melbourne."Eight weeks ago I was gone. Finished."But I've been speaking to a lot of blokes about retiring and I came to realise you are a long time retired."Bellamy took the reins in 2003, and has steered the Victorian club to five grand final wins, although two premierships were later stripped for salary cap cheating. His former assistant, Jason Ryles, was heavily tipped to replace Bellamy at the helm next year, but now the Dragons loom as his likely destination once Anthony Griffin is axed from the merger club.Bellamy is on a year-by-year contract with the Storm whereby he can decide each season whether to continue or not.
