A club rule that a new coach must have unanimous approval from the board before being signed is likely to keep Shane Flanagan away from the Dragons coaching role. Flanagan's name has been linked to the job in recent days, as speculation on current Dragons coach Anthony Griffin's future continues. A board meeting at Dragons HQ on Tuesday morning is expected to shed some light on Griffin's fate. Linked to the job have been Des Hasler, current Roosters assistant and former Dragon Jason Ryles, Cowboys assistant Dean Young, and Billy Slater - although Slater said any discussions had not made their way to him. "Yeah (it's a) little bit strange, first I heard of it was the reports in the media as well, so look whether the Dragons have made contact with my management I'm not too sure, but it certainly didn't get through to me," he said. Flanagan spent several seasons in charge of the Dragons list management while also juggling several media roles. He took up an assistant role under Anthony Seibold at Manly earlier this year. But according to Danny Weidler, Flanagan is long odds to sign on at Kogarah, given the club's unanimous decision policy.
