Eels release Nathan Brown, set to sign with Roosters

Parramatta have released former State of Origin forward Nathan Brown seven months after giving him permission to negotiate with rival clubs. Brown will join the Sydney Roosters, who are low on forwards with Matthew Lodge (facial injury), Angus Crichton (personal leave), Connor Watson (knee) and Sitili Tupouniua (knee) all sidelined. The Roosters are expected to confirm Brown's signing this week but a hamstring injury is likely to keep him from making his club debut against traditional rivals South Sydney on Friday night. Brown's Eels contract had been set to expire at the end of this season with the club informing him in June last year it could not guarantee there would be space for him under the salary cap from 2024. Arthur will address Brown's departure on Tuesday afternoon when he fronts the media ahead of Parramatta's clash with Manly.
