South Sydney has suffered a major blow in the lead-up to the premiership kickoff, with talented forward Siliva Havili undergoing surgery for a torn tendon in his ankle.Havili, who only signed a new two-year deal with the Rabbitohs two weeks ago, fell heavily on the ankle in a training mishap. It's early days, but he could miss up to half the season depending on how the recovery goes."We are looking at at least 10 weeks," a Rabbitohs insider told Wide World of Sports."Hopefully he will heal quickly, but there was a fair bit of damage in there."Havili was a key man for the Rabbitohs last year and was set to be off contract at season's end.But officials showed their high opinion of him by locking him in for a further two years in late January. The 29-year-old has more than 120 NRL games to his name as well as 15 Tests for Tonga and one for New Zealand. In his first season for the Bunnies in 2022, he played 23 games, alternating between lock and hooker.
