Broncos quietly axe troubled young gun

Troubled young Bronco TC Robati has been quietly sacked by the club on the eve of the NRL season.Robati had been stood down in January in the wake of charges arising from an incident at a nightclub during the off-season, before he was charged with unlicenced driving in late January. In 2021 he was also fined and had his licence suspended after pleading guilty to dangerous operation of a car.Confirmation of his axing was buried in the club's 2023 playing roster announcement."As part of the process for finalising this season's squad, forward TC Robati has been released from his contract with the club," the statement read.Robati made just 17 appearances across two seasons with the Broncos, and hasn't played since their round 14 win over the Raiders last season. It's been a difficult off-season for Brisbane - losing several experienced players, while their only big name-signing, Reece Walsh, is in a race to be fit for round one after suffering a facial fracture during trials.Tesi Niu and Brenko Lee (Dolphins), David Mead and Ryan James (retired), Te Maire Martin (Warriors), Tyson Gamble (Knights), Jake Turpin (Roosters) and Zac Hosking (Panthers) all left the club in the off season. The Broncos get their season underway against the Panthers at BlueBet Stadium next Friday night.
