Brisbane coach Kevin Walters has breathed a sigh of relief after confirming an ankle injury suffered by captain Adam Reynolds was not as serious as first thought. Reynolds failed to finish Broncos training on Thursday but Walters spoke with the 32-year-old halfback on Friday morning and said the injury was "not going to cause us too many dramas". "Adam fell over at training after someone stood on his ankle but it is not a serious injury," Walters told. "I am even hoping he could be back training with us next week. After talking to him he was even contemplating running with us today but we pulled him put of it because it is not worth it. "Adam was on a bike today while the players did their running." "We expect him to be back training this year but if he's not he has done a good block of training. We are very happy with where Payne is at," he said. Reynolds battled through the last two months of the season with a rib injury that caused him more discomfort than was publicly revealed. "Adam is a tough old campaigner and part of what we are doing with his training now is making sure he gets enough volume but is also looking after his body at the same token," he said "We want him to be fresh for round one next year more so than what is happening in December, January or February."
