The resignation of Dragons chairman Craig Young will have major ramification on the coaching position at the club. With Anthony Griffin highly unlikely to be re-signed once his contract ends next September, the club is on the lookout for a new head coach. The Dragons have always been a 'family' club and Young's son Dean - a former favourite Red V player and currently an assistant coach at the Cowboys - was considered an early favourite for the position. But with Craig losing his power and influence, Dean Young's chances of being the Dragons' next coach have nose-dived. Player managers are already lining up prospective coaches for the Dragons for 2024, with the race suddenly wide open again.
