Dragons make savvy signing as veteran exits

The Dragons are close to announcing their first signing for 2023 - talented Tigers hooker Jacob Liddle. With veteran Andrew McCullough expected to retire, the Dragons have been on the lookout for a class dummy-half and met with Liddle this week. The Tigers rate Liddle but are content to let him go given they have spent big money bringing NSW State of Origin hooker Api Koroisau to the club from Penrith next season. The Dragons were also interested in Roosters hooker Sam Verrills but he has signed with the Titans for 2023. A former Australian Schoolboys representative, the 25-year-old Liddle is a Central Coast junior who joined the Tigers in 2015 and played in their National Youth Cup team. He made his top grade debut the following season but his career has been marred by injury since then. He played just 10 NRL games this season but is a smart dummy-half with speed who should be able to get the Dragons' pack on the front foot next season.
