Sheens' plan to stop devastating Tigers blow

New Wests Tigers supremo Tim Sheens will hold a face-to-face meeting with Luke Brooks as soon as possible in an attempt to shut down continuing speculation that the classy halfback wants to join Newcastle.Sheens flew back into Sydney after five years in England last night and is wasting no time asserting his authority. The former Test coach is concerned at the destabilising effect constant talk of Brooks' future is having on the club and wants to end it ASAP.Wide World of Sports revealed last week that the Knights are keen on Brooks to replace Mitchell Pearce, who is off to England. The Tigers have signed a gun halfback in Jackson Hastings but want Brooks to partner him in the halves, particularly early in the season when Adam Doueihi is sidelined following knee surgery.Brooks has told the Tigers he has no desire to leave but the speculation about his future continues. He shares the same management company as Knights coach Adam O'Brien and Newcastle great Andrew Johns believes he needs a change of clubs after eight seasons at Concord.Johns has joined the Knights' coaching staff and has expressed a desire to work with Brooks.Meanwhile, the Tigers are holding firm - but a player swap or transfer fee could see the situation change in coming days.
