Benji Marshall contemplates his future

NRL legend Benji Marshall conceded "everyone wants to know" if we saw him play for the last time in the Rabbitohs' heartbreaking grand final loss but the best he could do was put a rough timeline on his decision, with the 36-year-old expecting to have his mind made up by the end of this week. The champion playmaker played a minor role in last night's decider, coming on with the game still in the balance with about 10 minutes remaining but unable to find the magic trick his team desperately craved to steal the premiership from the Panthers. He was typically gracious with his time, and patient with the retirement questions immediately after the game, but as he's done throughout his career he left his fans wanting more. Obviously everyone wants to know what I'm doing but we'll just get through the next few days and then I'll assess it maybe Wednesday or Thursday,"  "Extremely grateful I think more than anything, to have the opportunity to represent this great club and play with the players that I got to play with this year," Marshall told Lockyer when asked how he was feeling. "I made the No.14 jersey my own this year by just enjoying it. I got to play with guys like Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker and those guys really made it exciting but age is just a number, if you still turn up and enjoy every day at training and on the field then why not?"
