In the battle of the superstar fullbacks, Tom Trbojevic won. And it wasn't even close. Frustrated by his quiet night a week before, the Manly champion summoned yet another brilliant performance in a 42-6 semi-final win over Sydney Roosters. All the talk leading into the game was around his battle with Test and Origin custodian James Tedesco, who is widely regarded as the best fullback in the game. Arguably the best player in the NRL. But on Friday night Trbojevic ran riot over his good friend and NSW Blues captain with two tries, a try-assist and seven tackle breaks. It took just six minutes for the giants to clash as Trbojevic hurtled towards the line with ball in hand, eyes on a try. As he has done all season, Tedesco put his body on the line and bravely wrangled the Sea Eagles superstar, but couldn't stop the inevitable as Trbojevic scored. If that wasn't a symbolic enough moment, 14 minutes later Tedesco made a break and was pulled down by Trbojevic, who knocked the ball loose. Tedesco recovered to set up Matt Ikuvalu for a try soon after, but Trbojevic was everywhere to help inspire Manly's big win.
