Payne Haas, key signings put Broncos in good stead for 2022

After a horror season in 2020, the Broncos still struggled but took baby steps towards recovery. The dreadful defence - the worst in the club's history - was again Brisbane's downfall and several blowout scorelines proved an embarrassment for a once proud club. But the club did climb a couple of places up the ladder, win more games than last year, played better in the last month and have bought two 'gun' players in Adam Reynolds and Kurt Capewell. The halves were again the Broncos' biggest problem and the lack of stability resulted in the team being often clueless in attack. Coach Kevin Walters used eight different combinations with Brodie Croft, Anthony Milford, Tyson Gamble, Karmichael Hunt and Albert Kelly all getting their chance with little success. The Broncos had some big, strong athletes in their roster - but without playmakers to show them the way, they were largely wasted. This is where the arrival of Reynolds will be a godsend. The shining light was the form of giant Blues Origin forward Payne Haas - he often took rival packs on one out and terrorised them with his awesome attacking skills.
