Adam Reynolds stands on the verge of history as he prepares to claim Eric Simms' 50-year record as South Sydney's greatest points scorer. Reynolds requires just eight points to overtake Simms' mark of 1841, which has stood since he overtook Bernie Purcell in 1971. But the Rabbitohs' points-scoring spree in 2021 has Reynolds averaging 11 points per game, the most at any time in his 10-year career. It puts him on track to claim the record in Friday night's clash with Parramatta at Cbus Super Stadium. "That's quite an achievement (breaking Simms' record), actually," Bennett said. "I think it's probably been under played right now. "Eric Simms is a great player, I remember him as a little boy playing for South Sydney and what a great reputation he had and everything. "It's been quite a record it's been there for a long time and I can't think of a nicer guy than Adam. "I'm sure (Eric) would agree that he is worthy." Simms' record is the longest standing points-scoring mark at any club, and is a throwback to the day of two-point field goals. In that sense, Reynolds is a fitting successor.
