Christian Welch has avoided a charge for a hit on Sam Walker that had Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson fuming after Thursday night's heavy NRL loss to Melbourne. The Storm and Queensland prop was also labelled careless in commentary for a shot on Walker in which Welch clashed heads with the teenage halfback as he was kicking, leaving him flat out on the turf. The moment sparked a melee during the Roosters' 46-0 loss, while Greg Alexander said in Welch should have more consideration for where he puts his head when attacking the kicker. But the hit went without penalty, and the match review committee has sided with the match officials. The Roosters have had more than their fair share of head injuries this season and while Robinson was reticent to bring more attention to another one, he was obviously unhappy.
