Brimson Origin gamble leaves Titans short

The decision to risk AJ Brimson as a utility for Queensland has come at a cost for Gold Coast, with the fullback ruled out of Saturday's NRL clash against the Sydney Roosters. Brimson, who has been battling bone bruising on his knee, only featured for 15 minutes in Wednesday's State of Origin opener in Townsville as the Maroons slumped to a 50-6 defeat. Titans coach Justin Holbrook said while he had no issue with the Maroons risking Brimson, the 22-year-old was too sore to face the Roosters at CBUS Super Stadium. "His knee's obviously not a hundred per cent," Holbrook said. "They (Queensland) made a call. "He only had to do a small job, that they were confident he could do. "It's too short a time for me to try and get him to back up and play fullback." Brimson's absence means youngster Jayden Campbell will retain the No.1 jersey after his debut against Melbourne last weekend.
