Sharks confirm Will Chambers signing for remainder of 2021 season

Former Melbourne Storm, Maroons and Kangaroos star Will Chambers has signed with the Cronulla Sharks for the remainder of the 2021 season. The 32-year-old played 215 games with the Storm across two stints, between 2007 and 2019, before leaving the NRL to take up a rugby deal with Japanese club Suntory Sungoliath. But Chambers is now back in the NRL after arriving at the Sharks for his first day of training today. Fascinatingly, Chambers has signed with the club that beat the Storm in the 2016 NRL grand final. He was one of the chief protagonists in what became a bitter rivalry between the two clubs and was often at the centre of altercations, both verbal and physical. The Sharks said he'd shown pleasing signs on his first day. "Chambers trained strongly on Monday and reported no injury issues, with the Sharks to now assess the fitness of the 32-year-old before charting the next plan of attack as to a potential return to the field," a statement released by the club said.
