South Sydney are preparing for life without premiership hero Adam Reynolds, with the Redfern based club on a mission to re-sign three of their most promising junior playmakers. The Rabbitohs are privately pessimistic about their chances of retaining Reynolds on a one-year extension and are doing their utmost to map out a succession plan If the captain opts to leave. Reynolds' potential exit could mean another deal for veteran Benji Marshall, with Souths prepared to offer Marshall an opportunity to play a 20th NRL season. The Kiwi great has had a positive impact on the club coming off the bench and adds another veteran mind to the halves in addition to Reynolds and Cody Walker. Reynolds and his manager, Steve Gillis, have played hardball with Redfern officials rejecting the current one-year extension on the table. South Sydney officials are hoping Reynolds will take a year by year approach like the club did with former captain John Sutton, who was prepared to accept a series of one-year contracts before transitioning into an off-field role with the club. But Reynolds is adamant he can play longer than the club is willing to acknowledge and is exploring his options with rival clubs, as a move to the Sunshine State becomes a real option.
